A Local By-Election was called at Barkingside Ward in Essex for 10 April
2003, and there was very little publicity given except for an abnormal
candidate. The turnout was very low, and there were only four ballot stations.
I visited them all, and was well received by the tellers. Indeed some
wondered why it took me so long to visit them. As a True Independent, it
is difficult to visit each and every road.
Nevertheless, I achieved 39 votes, which in itself was no mean feat.
